Christ like for Life

PERSON OF CHRIST DEITY, HUMANITY & UNITY OF CHRIST
The Doctrine Of Christ Occupies The Central Place In All Of Scripture.
God created universe by Him    Redeems man through Him    and is revealed in Him.
God has not said and done anything in relation to this world that is not said and done in and through Jesus Christ.       Jesus is appointed as Judge of the world.
God is one divine Spirit eternally manifested as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Christ is the substance of God - God is not a person

John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through
him might be saved.
Vs 16 God sent the Son, Vs 17 The Son saves, Vs 3-8 The Spirit gives the new birth never refers to origin.
It doesn't always refer to origin when referring to men also. "Son Of God"
When Used Of Christ Means Equality With God: Son of God with respect to Christ means relationship:
Jesus Is Called Lord:
Christ Is Called Emmanuel (God With Us)                 Christ Is Called Mighty God And Father Of Eternity

PERSON OF CHRIST
He Is Called The Holy One Of God
John 3:5-8  Jesus answered,
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

I.CHRISTOLOGY Deity of Christ in His Birth, His Deity Is Revealed In The Titles And Names Given Him
He is calledSon of God

II. WHAT "SON OF GOD" UNIQUE MEANING IS Jesus Had No Parents, No Mother, No Origin, No Birth, But Yet Called
Son Of God.
Believers Are Called Sons Of God, Angels Are Called Sons Of God: The phrase "son of in scripture doesn't always mean origin.
It means"the order of Son of prophets = order of prophets Sons of Belial = They weren't sons literally

"Son of when used of Christ Works His Deity Is Revealed In His Authority To Forgive Sins
Only He Reveals His Deity In His Righteous And Sinless Life, His Deity Was Revealed By His Miracles.

His Deity Is Revealed In

His Own Claims He ClaimedAuthority Over The Law, He Claimed Authority Over TheSabbath
He Claimed To Be The Saviour, He Claims To Be The Messiah,
He Claims To BeThe Resurrection And The Life

His Claims By Others Proves His Deity : The Father says He is God.
Demons Claimed He Was The Son Of God, The Roman Centurion At The Cross Claimed He Was Son Of God.

His Ascension His Deity Is Revealed In The Believer.
His Deity Is Verified By Our Personal Experience: Peter's Confession That Jesus Is The Son Of God:

II. The Scriptures Represent Christ As One Person With Two Natures -DIVINE AND HUMAN NATURE
1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh,
justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
Before He became incarnate He had only the divine nature.

Jesus is uniquely God-Man
In the early church counsel heresy was either denying that the human Jesus is the divine eternal Son of God
or the denial of the divine eternal Son of God as being really human.

HUMANITY OF CHRIST
He was born in an ordinary way by being born of a woman. 1st and 2nd John dealt with heretics who didn't believe
Christ was human.
Some heretics said He wasn't a complete human.
Truth: He had a real complete humanity to identify with His people.Galatians4:4 Hebrews 2:14 His Development
Luke 2:40-52 a. Vs 46
As a boy He had to ask questions b. Vs 51 He was subject to His parents c. Vs 52 He increased in wisdom and stature,
and in favour with God and man.
His Humanity Seen In .
Matthew 4:1-11

Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
Hebrews 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, vet without sin. Satan knew Jesus was human and the last Adam or he wouldn't have tempted Him.
Hebrews 2:18

For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted. His Humanity Is Seen In
Matthew 4:2
He hungered.John 19:28    From the cross, He thirsted. Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; 4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:Mark 4:38  He slept John 4:6 He got weary journeying John 11:35 He wept as Lazarus tomb.

His Humanity Seen In Hebrews 2:10
For it become him, for whom are oil things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory,
to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
Hebrews 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; Luke 23:46
And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said. Father, into the hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus,
he gave up the ghost.
His Humanity Seen In His Own To Be A Man John 8:40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth,
which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
John 5:27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Acts 2:22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by
miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:
1 Corinthians 15:21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

His Humanity
Is Seen In That He Possessed A Human Nature A full human nature
1 Thessalonians 5:23
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul
and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Matthew 26:12 for in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.
Matthew 26:38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
Luke 23:46
And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus,
he gave up the ghost.

THE MYSTERY OF THE UNITY OF CHRIST
1 Timothy 3:16

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. Jesus is God-man, not God & man or man & God.

How can two natures be united in one person?
1 Timothy 3:16
This is beyond our comprehension. PERSON - Legal Rights

There are no adequate of the unity of Christ. We must deny a double personality and affirm a single personality.
Double Personality belief: This was a of the early church to say Christ is two persons. The possession of two natures doesn't require a personality because
the eternal Logos was God and He took on flesh. John 1:14
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,)
full of grace and truth.
In addition to the Divine nature He assumed human nature, which would not develop into a separate individual, independent personality as a human being, but it's the divine nature taking on human nature resulting in one person, not two.

The human nature became personal in its union with the Logos. Keep one person or you're a heretic. If you deny that Jesus had all the essential of both natures, then you're in heresy. Christ Is A Personality Because One Person Speaks. As He Speaks, Two Come Forth
John 17:5
And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
John 10:30 Me and my Father are one.
John 3:13c And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
John 6:62
What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
John 8:56-59

Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
Human And Divine Are Ascribed To Him By The Apostles

Acts 20:28 The church of God, which He hath purchased with His own blood.
1 Corinthians 2:7-8 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
Romans 1:3-4 1 Corinthians 15:47
The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.

The Effect Of The Union Of The Human Upon The Divine And The Effect Of Divine Upon The Human

THE EFFECT OF THE DIVINE UPON THE HUMAN:
Hebrews 4:15
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted
like as we are, yet without sin.
• This effect Him from sin. Because He was God, He could have preserved Himself from sin.

Mark 2:10
But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)
• It enabled Him as a man to forgive sin.

John 5:25-26
Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. 26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
• It endued with Him with in Himself.

John 5:22
For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son.

Acts 17:31
Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer
you to be tempted above that ye are able; but willwith the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
We therefore can overcome all temptations.

THE EFFECT UPON THE DIVINE NATURE BY THE HUMAN NATURE
It Enabled Him As God To Experience Temptation, Suffering And Death On Our Behalf.
Hebrews 2:9-10 Vs 14-18
It Enabled Him To Be A High Priest.
Hebrews 2:17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertainina to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

Hebrews 4:15-16
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
The Results Of The Union It Is An Eternal Union (Divine & Human). Jesus Is Forever God-Man. The Logos Gone , And The Messiah Gone .
Philippians 3:20-21 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: 21
Who shall change our vile body that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

Matthew 25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
Revelation 1:13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. Jesus Is Both Lord And Christ.
Acts 2:36
Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. People will see Jesus sitting on the throne in Zion judging the nations as a glorified God-man.

Old Testament Theology

Distinction between Old and New Testament = Jesus-Front to back

The Old Testament is basic doctrine of the
Old Testament
(Old test used to be scriptures) (Teaching)

The Old Testament is the Bible = the only revelation that they had
The New Testament is the fulfillment of the old

Distinction between the old and the new doctrine (teaching)

Old testament Theology limits itself to Old testament only

The interruption of the old testament Theology concepts
(How to think like a Hebrew)

Old testament theology by its nature is incomplete and only foundational (typical) the old testament is all about Christ)

As a theology it has all the necessary elements
The same truth is in the old and new

The old testament Of doctrine is just as good as the new

2 Timothy 3:16-17

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,

17 that the man of God2 may be competent, equipped for every good work.

The task of the old testament theology is to report what was the old testament belief

Spirit returns back to God in life form
God is the father of spirits.
Spirit is God himself

But what does reproof from you reprove?

Jesus and his disciples constantly used the Old Testament

Luke 4:18-21

He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives
and recovering of sight to the blind, d to set at liberty those who are oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him.

And he began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.
Isaiah 61
The Year of the LORD’s Favor
61 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor;
he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound
to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor,
and the day of vengeance of our God;
to comfort all who mourn; to grant to those who mourn in Zion— to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning,

the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he may be glorified.

They shall build up the ancient ruins; they shall raise up the former devastation;
they shall repair the ruined cities, the devastation of many generations.

Strangers shall stand and tend your flocks; foreigners shall be your plowmen and vine dressers; but you shall be called the priests of the LORD; they shall speak of you as the ministers of our God;

you shall eat the wealth of the nations, and in their glory you shall boast.

Instead of your shame there shall be a double portion; instead of dishonor they shall rejoice in their lot; therefore in their land they shall possess a double portion; they shall have everlasting joy.

For I the LORD love justice; I hate robbery and wrong; I will faithfully give them their recompense, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.

Their offspring shall be known among the nations,
and their descendants in the midst of the peoples;
all who see them shall acknowledge them,
that they are an offspring the LORD has blessed.

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD;
my soul shall exult in my God,
for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress,
and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

For as the earth brings forth its sprouts,
and as a garden causes what is sown in it to sprout up, so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to sprout up before all the nations.

Mathew 12:40

Jesus Is Lord of the Sabbath
At that time Jesus went through the grain fields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry, and they began to pluck heads of grain and to eat. But when the Pharisees saw it, they said to him, “Look, your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.”
He said to them,

“Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, and those who were with him: how he entered the house of God and ate the bread of the Presence, which it was not lawful for him to eat nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests?

Or have you not read in the Law how on the Sabbath the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath and are guiltless?
I tell you, something greater than the temple is here. And if you had known what this means, I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless.

For the Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.”
A Man with a Withered Hand He went on from there and entered their synagogue. 10 And a man was there with a withered hand. And they asked him, Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”—so that they might accuse him.

He said to them, “Which one of you who has a sheep, if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not take hold of it and lift it out?

Of how much more value is a man than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”

Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And the man stretched it out, and it was restored, healthy like the other.

But the Pharisees went out and conspired against him, how to destroy him.

God’s Chosen Servant
Jesus, aware of this, withdrew from there. And many followed him, and he healed them all
and ordered them not to make him known.

This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah:

“Behold, my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved with whom my soul is well pleased. I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles.

He will not quarrel or cry aloud, nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets;

a bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not quench, until he brings justice to victory;  and in his name the Gentiles will hope.” Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit

Then a demon-oppressed man who was blind and mute was brought to him, and he healed him, so that the man spoke and saw.
And all the people were amazed, and said, “Can this be the Son of David?”

But when the Pharisees heard it, they said,
“It is only by Beelze bul, the prince of demons, that this man casts out demons.”

Knowing their thoughts, he said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand.
And if Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?

And if I cast out demons by Beelze bul, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges.

But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. Or how can someone enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man?
Then indeed he may plunder his house.

Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.

Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.

And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

A Tree Is Known by Its Fruit
“Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, for the tree is known by its fruit.
34 You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil.
tell you, son the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak,
for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

The Sign of Jonah
Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered him, saying, “Teacher,
we wish to see a sign from you.” But he answered them,
“An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

I. PROPHETIC MINISTRY

Deuteronomy 18:15-19
The LORD thy God wilt raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; 16 According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not. 17 And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken.18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. 19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

John 1:19-21
And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou? And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ. And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No. The Jews were looking for both a prophet and the Messiah to come not knowing that Jesus of Nazareth fits both persons.

Luke 13:31-33
The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee. And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do
cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected. Nevertheless I must walk to day, and
tomorrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.

Matthew 13:57-58 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. 58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

As A Prophet He Spoke For God

John 12:49-50
For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. 50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

The People Called And Recognized Him As A Prophet

John 4:19
The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

John 9:17 They say unto the blind man again, Whatsayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet. He Fulfilled The Prophet Who Should Come
John 6:14

Deuteronomy 18:15
Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.Deuteronomy 18:15 The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;

He Functioned As A Prophet

John 8:26-28
I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him. They understood not that he spake to them of the Father. Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.

He Spoke Future Events

Matthew 24 & Luke 21
He Authenticated His Ministry With Miracles John 5:36 But I have greater witness than that of John:
for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

He Claimed To Be Sent From God
John 10:36
Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

II. HIS PRIESTLY OFFICE
His Messianic Prophecy Of His Priestly Office After The Order Of Melchizedec
Hebrews 5:6
As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
Hebrews 6:20
Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
Hebrews 7:17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
Hebrews 7:21 (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)

He Ministers On Behalf Of The People Before God As A High Priest
Hebrews 3:1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
'
Hebrews 4:14- 16 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us holdfast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our
infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy,
and find grace to help in time of need.

Hebrews 5:5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.
Hebrews 7:17, 26 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. 26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

THE TWO-FOLD NATURE OF PRIESTHOOD
A priest functions sacrificially
A priest functions by intercession
Sacrificially -Leviticus 4:34-35 Leviticus 4:34-35
And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and shall pour out all the blood thereof at the bottom of the altar:
35 And he shall take away all the fat thereof, as the fat of the lamb is taken away from the sacrifice of the peace offerings; and the priest shall burn them upon the altar, according to the offerings made by fire unto the LORD: and the priest shall make an atonement for his sin that he hath committed, and it shall be forgiven him.

He offers what the people bring for atonement Christ not only offered sacrifices but Himself was the sacrifice
John 1:29
The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
Hebrews 9:24-26
For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: 25 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others 26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

Intercession - Read Leviticus 16
Pass I The two goats and the altar of incense in the holy place.

Christ intercession is in the office of the Paraklete or Advocate. 1 John 2:1
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
As High Priest, Jesus is not praying to the Father but sits in authority with the Father
He speaks a word on behalf of the child of God He is a sympathetic High Priest and justifies us

He Forever Lives To Be Our Intercessor Hebrews 7:21-25
(For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:) By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him,
seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

THE NECESSITY OF THE ATONEMENT
1. The Sin-fullness Of All Men
Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

The Sentence Of Death Upon All Men Genesis 3:3
But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.;

III. CHRIST AS KING
Christ Kingship With Reference To His Sovereignty.
His eternal kingship is predicted in many Old Testament passages Jeremiah 23:5-6
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.
6 In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name
whereby he shall be called,THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Daniel 7:13-14
I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. 14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

Psalms 2:6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

Isaiah 9:6-7 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called
Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father,
The Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of
David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with
justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel: whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

Zechariah 6:13 even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne: and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.

Psalms 89:29 His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.

Romans 5:12
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The Holiness Of God
Habakkuk 1:13
Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?
The holiness of God requires Him to take sin seriously His reaction against sin is holy wrath

Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Psalms 1:6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Isaiah 13:9 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
Hosea 5:10 The princes of Judah were like them that remove the bound: therefore I will pour out my wrath upon them like water.
The Justice Of God
• God is perfectly just.
If the sinner is to be forgiven and find justification then God has to find a way to
meet the demands of His law -SATISFACTION OR ATONEMENT Anything that will take your eyes off of God is sin. God decreed to punish all sin with death, therefore He chose to punish His own Son with our guilt and impute our guilt to Christ. Jesus then imputed the merits of His work of redemption at Calvary to us the believers
2 Samuel 7:12-16 And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom forever, 14will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men: But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee, And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.

The New Testament Speaks Of Him As A King  Luke 1:33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be
no end.

Luke 19:38 Saving. Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, Until I make thy foes thy footstool.36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

Matthew 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father,
inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: In Christ all there of the offices which were separated in the Old Testament are
united. The priest and the king in the Old Testament could not be united in onJohn 18:36-38
Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. 37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

Acts 2:30-36 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne: He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my e person.
There was a divine prohibition against uniting them into one person I Peter 1:9-11= obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, 11 inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories

He Is The Light Of Life
John 1: 3-10
=All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, lthat all might believe through him. 8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.
9 The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him.

Jesus is the source of life and moral light & understanding.
He Is The Firstborn
For those whom he fore-knew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
Colossians 1:15=The Preeminence of Christ 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.

Philippians 3:20-21= But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,

Christ is the first to have a glorified body

FIRSTBORN IN OLD TESTAMENT USAGE
- It referred to position; Christ has the preeminent position. He has the birthright.
INCARNATION OF CHRIST

I. THE STATES OF CHRIST
Christ Has 3 In His Eternal Existence As Son Of God.
This makes Him very unique:. , No other being has existed in three states
God the Father doesn't exist in three states
His Preexistence, Incarnation And Exaltation
PREEXISTENCE
John 3:13=No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.
John 8:58 =Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, a I am.
John 17:5 = And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.
John 1:14=And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Philippians 2:5-11 = Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Colossians 1:16-19 = For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.
17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.
19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell,

INCARNATION SCRIPTURES
1Timothy 3:16
= 16 Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness: He was manifested in the flesh,
vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory. John 1:14

Matthew 1:18-23
=The Birth of Jesus Christ
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. 19 And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. 20 But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:
23 “ Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel”
Romans 1:3= concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh

Romans 8:3 Galatians4:4=4 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law,

Hebrews 2:14 =4 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,
Philippians 2:6-8=who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

II. PURPOSE AND NECESSITY OF INCARNATION
THE PURPOSE OF INCARNATION WAS TO REDEEM SINNERS. JESUS WAS BORN TO DIE.
Isaiah 53:5
= But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed.
Zechariah 12:10 Zechariah 13:1Matthew 20:28 John 1:29

IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ANIMAL SACRIFICES
Hebrews 10:1-4 =For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near. 2 Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have any consciousness of sin? 3 But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sin every year. 4 For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

SOMEONE LIKE US WITHOUT SIN HAD TO WITH US AND BE ACCEPTABLE TO GOD.
Hebrews 2:17
= Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

THE LOGOS AS ETERNAL COULD NOT DIE
I Peter 3:18-19
= For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit, 19 in which he went and proclaimed to the spirits in prison,

BY VIRTUE OF THE INSEPARABLE UNION WE HAVE AN ATONEMENT
-GOD DYING!
Acts 20:28
=Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.

IT IS ADEQUATE BECAUSE HE TOOK UPON HIMSELF OUR
Hebrews 2:14-18
= Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. 16 For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham. 17 Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. 18 For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

I. THE KENOSIS QUESTION
Philippians 2:1-11
= So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, 2 complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. 3 Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant,3 being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus bevery knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and devery tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

KENOSIS-KENOSIS QUESTION
-His humiliation; the act of Christ in emptying Himself and clothing Himself with humanity.

OF WHAT DID HE EMPTY HIMSELF?
Synod of Antioch: 341 A.D.
They concluded that Christ emptied Himself of the positionof being equal with God. This does not mean He gave up His divinity, but the status and position at right hand of God.
Middle Ages: He gave up certain attributes of deity also.
Reformation Theologians: He laid aside the divine attributes of omnipotence,
omnipresence and omniscience(Luther, Calvin, etc)
Present-Day: Some contend that He consciously kept His divine powers and attributes under restraint. He consciously knew who He was, what He had, what He could do but refused to use them.
(Problem with full humanity others say He was unaware of His
powers and there extent and lived His incarnate life within the limitations of His-humanity.
Others hold that He gave up His relative attributes. Christ retained His divine self-consciousness and His imminent attributes aslove, holiness, truth and He surrendered His relative attributes, which were  omniscience, omnipotent and omnipresence.

THE NEW TESTAMENT CLEARLY TEACHES THAT CHRIST
ADMITTED AND DEMONSTRATED CERTAIN _ IN HIS HUMANITY.
Luke 2:41-52
=Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover. 42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up according to custom. 43 And when the feast was ended, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it, 44 but supposing him to be in the group they went a day’s journey, but then they began to search for him among their relatives and acquaintances, 45 and when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, searching for him. 46 After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. 47 And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. 48 And when his parents1 saw him, they were astonished. And his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been searching for you in great distress.” 49 And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” 50 And they did not understand the saying that he spoke to them. 51 And he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was submissive to them. And hhis mother treasured up all these things in her heart.
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.

He had to learn and acquire knowledge like any human being. He Surrendered His
Hebrews 5:8 =Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
He Suffered .Hebrews 2:18
For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
Hebrews 4:15
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. He didn't know the day of His return. He knows now.

Mark 13:32
But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. He Suffered .

Mark 6:31
And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.

John 19:31-42
The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the Sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other, which was crucified with him. But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs: But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe. For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken. And again another scripture saith,

They shall look on him whom they pierced. And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus. And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and
brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight. Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury. Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.
There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews' preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.

11 The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.
5 The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.

20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.

Matthew 12:28-32
But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.
Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he
first bind the strong man ? and then he will spoil his house.
He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth
abroad.Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto
men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this
world, neither in the world to come.

Apostle Paul's perspective on Christ as the "perfect man" considered him the "second Adam" who brought forth life, while Adam left a legacy of sin, in
1Corinthians 15:22 and Romans 5:12
In the 2nd century, Saint Irenaeus of Lyons based his concept of the perfection of Christ on the Gospel of John (as well as the other Synoptic Gospels) rather than on the Pauline Epistles.
For Irenaeus the perfection of Christ originates from his being "The Word", i.e. the Logos which pre-existed as Christ in perfect form, untouched by sin: because he was the first, he could achieve perfection.[2]
In the 3rd century, Tertullian emphasized the perfection of Christ as a key consequence of the Incarnation of the Logos in Christ. In Tertullian's view to suggest that anything could be added to improve Christ would be to deny the Gospels.
In the Middle Ages a key focus of Christological studies on the knowledge of Christ was his perfection as in John 1:14 which states "full of grace and truth". Active obedience of Christ The active obedience of Jesus Christ (sometimes called his preceptive obedience comprises the totality of his actions, which
Christians believe was in perfect obedience to the Law of God. In Reformed theology, Christ's active obedience is generally believed to be imputed to Christians as part of their justification.

In Acts 3:14, Peter calls Jesus "the Holy and Righteous One", while in Acts 10:38 Peter says that Christ "he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him."

According to the Bible, in Hebrews 4:15, Jesus was "without sin". Robert L. Reymond interprets
Romans 5:18 (which talks about his "one act of righteousness") as referring to Christ's "entire life work", and the references to Christ being a "servant" as indicating his obedience.
Christ's active obedience (doing what God's law required) is usually distinguished from his passive obedience (suffering for his people),

The imputation of Christ's active obedience is a doctrine within Reformed theology. It is based on the idea that God's righteousness demands perfect obedience to his law.
By his active obedience, Christ has "made available a perfect righteousness before the law that is imputed or reckoned to those who put their trust in himThe Heidelberg Catechism asserts that God grants to the believer "the perfect satisfaction, righteousness and holiness of Christ," so that the Christian can say that it is "as if I never had had, nor committed any sin: yea, as if I had fully accomplished all that obedience which Christ has accomplished for me"
This imputation therefore constitutes the positive element of justification.
The imputation of Christ's active obedience has its foundation in the idea of a covenant of works made with Adam, though this has been the subject of debate, since covenantal language is not employed until the

Noahic covenant in Genesis
"if Christ had merely paid the penalty of sin for us and done nothing more we should be at best back in the situation in which Adam found himself when God placed him under the covenant of works."

As a result of this, our "attainment of eternal life would have been dependent upon our perfect obedience to the law of God," and we would be certain to fall Christ was "our representative both in penalty paying and in probation keeping," and that for those who have been saved by him, the probation is over since "Christ has merited for them the reward by his perfect obedience to God's law. also: Ministry of Jesus, Parables of Jesus, Miracles of Jesus, and Names and titles of Jesus in the New Testament

Christian views of Jesus are based on the teachings and beliefs as outlined in the Canonical gospels,
New Testament letters, the Christian creeds, as well as specific denominational teachings. These outline the key beliefs held by Christian about Jesus, including his divinity, humanity, and earthly life. Generally speaking, adhering to the Christian faith requires a belief that Jesus is the Son of God and the Messiah or Christ. Jesus refers to himself as the Son of God in the New Testament.

Christian consider Jesus the Christ and believe that through his death and resurrection, humans can be reconciled to God and thereby are offered salvation and the promise of eternal life.

These teachings emphasize that as the willing Lamb of God, Jesus chose to suffer in Calvary as a sign of his full obedience to the will of his Father, as an "agent and servant of God.

The choice Jesus made thus counter-positions him as a new man of morality and obedience, in contrast to Adam's disobedience.
Most Christians believe that Jesus was both human and the Son of God. While there have been theological debate over the nature of Jesus, Trinitarian Christians generally believe that Jesus is God incarnate,

God the Son, and "true God and true man"(or both fully divine and fully human).
Jesus, having become fully human in all respects, suffered the pains and temptations of a mortal man, yet he did not sin.

As fully God, he defeated death and rose to life again. According to the Bible, God raised him from the dead.
He ascended to heaven, to the "right hand of God. and he will return again for the Last Judgment and the establishment of the Kingdom of God.

The five major milestones in the gospel narrative of the life of Jesus are his Baptism,
Transfiguration, Crucifixion, Resurrection and Ascension.

These are usually bracketed by two other episodes: his Nativity at the beginning and the sending of the Paraclete at the end.

The gospel accounts of the teachings of Jesus are often presented in terms of specific categories involving his "works and words", his ministry, parables and miracles.
Christians not only attach theological significance to the works of Jesus, but also to his name.
Devotions to the Holy Name of Jesus do back to the earliest days of Christianity.
These devotions and feasts exist both in Eastern and Western Christianity.

THE RESURRECTION

Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said,
"They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don't know where they have put him!" So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb.
Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in.

Then Simon Peter, who was behind him, arrived and went into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, as well as the burial cloth that had been;around Jesus' head. The cloth was folded up by itself, separate from linen. Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed.

(They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.) While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened. When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum
of money, telling them, "You are to say, His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.'
(St. John 20:1-18, St. Matthew 28:11-15)
"And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, thenworkers of miracles,
also those havinggifts of healing, those able tohelp others, those with gifts of administration..
